Robert Redford to stop acting

American film actor Robert Redford has announced that he will soon stop acting in order to focus on his directorial work. In his interview with his grandson Dylan Redford, 80-year-old Robert said that he was getting tired of acting.

He cited two acting projects in the pipeline – Our Souls at Night, with Jane Fonda, and Old Man with a Gun – but he said that he would retire from acting once those were finished.

– Once they're done then I'm going to say, 'Okay, that's goodbye to all that,' and then just focus on directing – Redford said.

Robert Redford got his first film role in 1962 and became a world star seven years later, mostly thanks to his role in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He has acted in more than 30 films, including The Sting, Three Days of the Condor, The Great Gatsby, All the President's Men and Out of Africa.

In 1981, he got an Oscar as the director of Ordinary People.
