CADEZ: Abolition of visas speeding up establishment of direct Belgrade-Beijing line

(Marko Cadez) The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Marko Cadez, estimated that the agreement on the abolition of visas for citizens of China would bring great benefits for the Serbian economy.

He said for Tanjug that each facilitation of the transfer of people, goods and capital benefited the economy directly or indirectly.

– If we're talking about tourism alone and take into consideration that Serbia is the first of the 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe to abolish the visas for Chinese citizens, there's huge potential there for Serbia's tourist offer – Cadez said.

He pointed out that more than 100 million Chinese citizens had traveled abroad the previous year and that the projections were that the CEE region would record an increase in visits by Chinese tourists by 46% before 2018.

He also pointed to the data by the China National Tourism Administration, according to which 110 million Chinese tourists spent USD 104.5 billion last year, an increase of 16.6% compared to 2014.

– It's important to think in terms of the region and try to talk to other countries in order to create a joint tourist offer. This entails other countries' deciding to make such a step, and Montenegro would be an ideal country to combine tourist products with, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina – Cadez explained.

He added that free flow of people improved economic cooperation as well, as businessmen and investors wishing to do business in Serbia could travel freely.

This will, as he pointed out, significantly speed up all activities regarding the establishment of a direct Belgrade-Beijing flight.

According to him, the flight will be a significant step towards further establishing Belgrade as an air transport hub and bring its airport closer to developed airports of Europe.
