Serbia’s public debt EUR 24.13 billion in September 2016

The public debt of Serbia at the end of September amounted to EUR 24.13 billion, which is EUR 680 million less than in August, as shown by the report of the Ministry of Finance on the current macroeconomic trends published on Friday, October 28.


The public debt made up 70.8% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Serbia in September, compared to 74.7% in the previous month.

Direct liabilities of the state in the period observed amounted to EUR 22.04 billion, with the rest consisting of indirect liabilities.

The lowest percentage of the public debt in the GDP was recorded in 2008, when it equaled 28.3%, and the highest one was recorded in 2000 – 201.2%
