Vojvodina's budget for year 2008, in amount of 55.8 billion RSD, adopted

The representatives in the Assembly of Vojvodina have adopted the provincial budget for year 2008 in amount of 55.8 billion RSD. This year’s budget is 33% larger than the last year’s one, and major share of that amount, 23 billion RSD, are transfer funds from republic budget intended for workers in public sector, and nearly the same amount will be paid to the Fund for Capital Investments in Vojvodina.

According to the words of President of Executive Council of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić, it is the development budget that will contribute to further economic prosperity of the Province, creation of new jobs and supply of social services to the most endangered people, including refugees.

Pajtić reminded that implementation of about 600 projects was in progress in all municipalities in Vojvodina, which would lead to reduction of number of unemployed people by 20%, and about 550m RSD was intended for institutions of national communities for the sake of preservation of multiethnicity in Vojvodina.

Provincial Secretary of Finance, Jovica Đukić, said that the budget for year 2008 would ensure realization of all strategic and financial needs and plans of the Assembly of Vojvodina, Executive Council, provincial administration and all budget users. He expressed expectation that minimum 95% of projected incomes will be realized and, as he estimated, that is also indicated by the information that Vojvodina has already received about 40% of the money from privatization.

Total of 8.85 billion RSD from the provincial incomes will be provided for the budget of Vojvodia, the income in amount of 8 billion RSD will be received from privatization, while 23.46 billion RSD will be set aside from the republic budget for that province.

Total of 9.35 billion RSD will be spent on the projects of the National Investment Plan and other capital investments, and the budget will be supplemented by unspent funds from the previous budget year.

Total of 42% of money is intended for expenses and salaries in field of education and culture, while 41.7% of the budget will be spent on capital expenses and investments.

Remaining part of the budget, in amount of 10 billion RSD, will be used for salaries and other expenses of the provincial administration, health care, education, culture, environment protection and other fields under Vojvodina's jurisdiction.
