Air Serbia planning flights to North Africa, Central Asia and Far East

Air Serbia is planning to expand to new markets in the years to come as the fleet grows to 25 planes with the arrival of ten new Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The director of the airline, Dane Kondic, said for the German magazine Aero International that the company is interested in the markets of Central Asia and Far East, as well as North Africa, EX-YU Aviation News reports.

– The new planes will provide us with an opportunity to open new markets such as Iran, Central Asia and North Africa. These are spots that can be reached in two and a half hours from Belgrade. The Far East in another important market for us, especially considering the relations between Serbia and China – Kondic said.

Air Serbia officials earlier announced the possibility of flights to Iran, Kazakhstan and China. On the other hand, the Serbian airline was preparing to introduce flights to Cairo in 2014, but called the plan off due to increased safety issues in Egypt. As well, Air Serbia has terminated the only connection Jat Airways used to have to North Africa – Monastir, Tunisia.
