Plenary meeting of representatives of Serbia and IMF held

The carrying out of the agreed program supported by the current Precautionary Standby Arrangement approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on February 23, 2015, continues successfully, the macroeconomic perspective is positive, and the trends regarding employment encouraging, it was reported by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) today.


As stated, a plenary meeting of representatives of Serbia and the IMF Mission was held today at the NBS, which was attended by Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic and his associates, in addition to the governor of NBS, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, Serbia's representative in the international finance institution.

The IMF Mission, headed by James Roef, is visiting Belgrade from October 20 till November 1 in order to have talks with representatives of Serbia withing the regular sixth review of the current Precautionary Standby Arrangement. The latest macroeconomic, fiscal, monetary and balance of payments trends will be examined during the visit.

A special focus will be placed on the fiscal policy for 2016 and 2017, as well on preparing the 2017 budget.

The program's priority is to continue the fiscal adjustment, the reduction of the public debt and a consistent carrying out of structural reforms to the end of stimulating the competitiveness and growth of the economy.
