Employment rate in January smaller by 7% than in January 2007 - productivity larger by 11.8%

Total number of industrial workers in Serbia was 7%
smaller in January than in the same month last year. At the same time, the
productivity was increased by 11.8%.
According to the latest data provided by
the Republic Statistics Institute, the largest fall in employment rate (18.7%) was registered in field of
production of wooden and cork goods, without furniture, but that industrial
branch also registered fall in productivity by 12.2%.
Number of workers was
reduced by 18% in field of production of radio, TV and communication equipment,
but that did not contributed to incrase in productivity because the decrease
amounted to 27%.
In field of production of clothing and fur, number of workers
was also reduced by 18%, but the productivity grew by 7.4%.
The largest
increase in number of workers was registered in field of production of office machines
and computers – 17.3%. In that industrial branch, productivity grew the most,
by 112.7%. Productivity was also increased in field of production of precise
and optical instruments, by 57%, but the number of workers was reduced by 8.4%.
Significant increase in productivity was also registered in field of production of electric appliances and machines – 50.4%, while the number of workers was cut by 6.7%.
