Agreement on new Leoni facility in Nis signed – Jobs for 2,200 people, investment worth EUR 22 million

An agreement on the construction of a new facility of the company Leoni was signed today in Nis. The agreement pertains to Leoni AG's investment in the construction of a new facility for the production of car cables in Nis, worth EUR 22 million, and the creation of 2,200 new jobs.


– The laying down of the foundation stone will take place in December, and the company will be put into operation next August – said Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and added that the Government of Serbia would invest in all parts of Serbia equally.

Leoni AG is one of the global leaders in the production of car industry cable installations. In 2015, it was employing around 75,000 workers in 92 production facilities.

It had revenues of EUR 4.5 billion in 32 countries, with a profit of EUR 77.3 million.

Leoni is one of the companies to get state subsidies for employing people. The Government of Serbia gave EUR 31 million to the company through various subsidies. The company has operated in Serbia since 2009 and it has facilities in Prokuplje and Doljevac.
