If the price of crude oil in the world does not fall within next two days, the price of fuel in Serbia could be increased by average of about 4 RSD per liter already on Friday (March 7th). According to these estimates, one liter of gasoline would cost 101.6 RSD.

The prognoses that the price of oil will grow if it exceeds the magic limit of 100 USD per barrel are coming true. Namely, the price of crude oil has been a bit smaller than the historical maximum of 103.05 USD per barrel (159 liters) lately.

Such high price of the main energy raw material is mainly the result of weak dollar, as well as expectation that the members of the Organization of Petrol Export Countries (OPEC) will not increase the level of daily production.

Thus, the increase in price of derivatives in Serbia could be expected at the end of the week. According to ”Blic", the price of fuel could rise by about 4 RSD, but there is also a danger that, if the growth of oil price continues, this amount will be even bigger. The last correction in price took place on February 20th, and it was confirmed to the Ministry of Energy that the new calculation would be done on Thursday, so that new pricelists should be introduced on Friday morning.

- After this price increase, my opinion is that the changes in prices of fuel in our country will not happen within next month. Concerning the fact that the price of crude oil is very close to its historical record, it should be expected that the prices fall in the following period. However, it is for certain that the price of oil will be rising during the year - says Nebojša Atanacković from "Nafta".

Lower price of fuel would be the result of the reduction of excise tax on derivatives, which were increased on the occasion of the last price correction. These excises are determined by the Ministry of Finance, but, according to some earlier statements, they currently only survey the events on the market of Serbia and there is no announcement of their reduction.
