The ambassador of Germany to Serbia, Axel Dittmann, opened the first Oktoberfest organized by the German Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbia) in Belgrade on Friday, October 14. The ceremonial opening of the first barrel of beer by Dittmann officially marked the beginning of the festival. The ambassador wished everyone to have a good time at “the second best Oktoberfest”, after the one held in Munich.

Dittman noted in his short speech that the event and its numerous guests showed how important the cooperation between the two countries was.

The German ambassador pointed out that it was the seventh Oktoberfest in Belgrade, but the first one organized by AHK Serbia. He congratulated everybody who made the important decision to provide an institutional framework for German companies in Serbia and their Serbian partners through AHK.

This weekend, AHK Serbia is celebrating the first Oktoberfest with its members, business partners and representatives of the Serbian economy.

The pleasure for having AHK organize Oktoberfest was expressed by the president of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Ronald Seeliger, and the director of the organization, Martin Knapp. Among the numerous guests was the ambassador of Austria, Johannes Eigner.

General Manager of Stihl Serbia, Dijana Peskir, whose company is one of the main sponsors of the two-day event at the Belgrade Fair, announced new investments in Serbia. She said that Stihl was celebrating its 90th birthday in 2016 and that it had over 15,000 employees globally at the moment.

She reminded that Stihl had opened a regional center for the territory of former Yugoslavia in Belgrade in 2013 and said that the company would start building its own regional center on the outskirts of Belgrade in 2017.
