Petrohemija and Port of Novi Sad for sale

Of the 174 enterprises still in the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy, 13 enterprises should be put up on sale by the end of the year, following failed sales, writes Vecernje Novosti.

According to the newspaper, among the 13 companies are the transport company Lasta from Belgrade and the Port of Novi Sad, and the next round of privatization will include spas and public enterprises.

Among the significant objects of privatization, which are to be put up on sale, are also Galenika, MSC Bor Group, PKB Corporation, Petrohemija, Simpo and Slavija Hotels.

The Ministry of Economy, as the newspaper writes, plans to privatize three spas based on the joint proposition by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Veteran and Social Policy – Gejzer, Vranjska Banja and Bujanovac, but all three are are undergoing dispute procedures and the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund and the state are determining how much belongs to whom in court, so the sale is impossible without their agreement.

According to Vecernje Novosti, at the end of 2015, there were 526 enterprises employing 90,000 workers without a private owner. Since then, 236 have gone into bankruptcy, the sale procedure has been terminated in 71 of them and 43 have found owners.

The 174 unsold enterprises employ 53,000 workers.
