Town Hall of Inđija took 18th place on the list of 25 best European destinations for foreign investments

Mayor of Inđija, Goran Ješić, estimated yesterday (February 27, 2008), on the occasion of the news that "Financial Times" ranked Inđija 18th on the list of 25 top European destinations for foreign investments, that it was excellent news and the certificate achieved only by that Serbian city in the region.

Ješić admitted that he was surprised to hear that news, since he was currently in Russia on business, and he explained that Inđija, among the rest, was declared "The City of Future" for year 2008 and 2009.

- We won the award and became an example how public administration can be of service to the business and large developing companies - Ješić pointed out and added that over thousand candidates were in the competition.

Ješić pointed out that the award granted to Inđija had come not only on the basis of the level of investments, because, according to "Financial Times", Madrid, Amsterdam and some other larger cities with much higher level of investments are behind that Serbian city.

- Belgrade won the title of the city of future two years ago, but one such small municipality has never got it - Mayor of Town Hall of Inđija pointed out.

According to the selection of the expert bimonthly magazine published by "Financial Times", Municipality of Inđija is the 18th on the list of 25 top European destinations for foreign investments, such as Amsterdam, Warsaw, Madrid, Frankfurt and Budapest.

This open competition was carried out in 2007, and basic criteria were economic potential, the most significant investments and number of created jobs, economic reforms and priorities.

According to official data, Municipality of Inđija attracted about 200m EUR worth of foreign investments in 2006 and 2007, the largest of which were the investments of Indian company "Embassy group" in construction of technological park, investments of multinational building company "Trade Unique" in business-residential complex and investments of Bulgarian company "Monbat" in car battery factory.
