Military Council of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia has made the decision about commencement of series production of the latest "Zastava's" military rifle "M-21". This decision practically means that that weapon has been officially included in the armament system of the Army of Serbia. Negotiations about this year's deliveries between "Zastava Arms" and authorized military organs will start these days.
The CEO of "Zastava Arms", Rade Gromović, said that he expected that about 1,000 rifles "M-21" would be delivered to the Army of Serbia in 2008, and the value of that business arrangement would be known once the negotiations were ended.
The decision about commencement of series production of rifle "M-21" in the units of "Zastava Arms" was preceded by long and thorough testing of its technical-technological characteristics and firing potential in Technical Testing Center of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia.
The latest "Zastava's" rifle "M-21" is designed by the principle of kalashnikov (still the best infantry weapon) and by NATO standards, that is, according to NATO caliber 5.56.
