Viber to remain free forever – More than three million app users in Serbia

COO of Viber, Michael Shmilov, said that the communication through this service would remain free of charge and that it would always be so. He said that the company had three business models.

– The first one is selling virtual goods, emoticons and stickers. The second one is sponsors reaching customers through Viber stickers or chatrooms. The third one is paying to call those who don’t use Viber – Shmilov said.

Shmilov says that Viber is a company which always studies its penetration of a market and that they’ve noticed that they are very popular in Serbia, where the number of users has exceeded three million, which is, according to him, fascinating.

Announcing the company’s further plans, Shmilov said that they will first increase the speed of sending pictures, messages and even statuses.

– When we look at the levels of communication, we see that you connect with the family, friends, business associates. We intend to simplify that. Internet is the next thing. You will be able to look up room temperature through Viber. The technology exists, we only need to connect the dots – he says.
