The Government of Serbia decided yesterday to extend the decision on lowering the customs duties on the import of grower pigs from the European Union until the end of 2016.

The report following the session of the Government says that the decision has been adopted extending the period of validity of conditions for the lowering of customs duties on certain types of goods, i.e. for customs duty exception for certain types of goods in 2016.

The Government adds that it has extended the decision until December 31 to the end of further recovery of the current livestock population, taking into consideration the insufficient local production of grower pigs and the need to increase the production of pork meat.

Lowering the customs duties on the import of grower pigs from the EU contributes to the local market’s being better supplied and increasing the competitiveness of the local producers of pigs and meat products in the international market, the report says.
