Serbia made a surplus in the trade with Croatia in the first seven months of 2016 for the first time since the end of the war, the Croatian media report.

According to the data, Serbia exported EUR 256.5 million worth of goods to Croatia in the period, a growth of 13.9% relative to last year. The export of Croatia to Serbia in the same period, the CCIS claims, amounted to EUR 244.7 million, which is only 0.2% more than last year.

The conclusion is that Serbia had a surplus of EUR 11.8 million in the trade with Croatia in the first seven months of 2016. The turning point, Belgrade claims, happened in April.

The Croatian statistics have so far not provided data supporting this. According to the latest available data by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, the ones for the first six months of 2016, Croatia was still making a surplus in the trade with Serbia, although it kept decreasing.

Namely, the total value of goods exported to Serbia in the period amounted to EUR 241.93 million, which is 2% less than last year. The import from Serbia in the same period increased by as much as 16.2%, reaching EUR 227.03. This means that Croatia’s surplus amounted to a little less than EUR 15 million.

By the way, Croatia made a surplus of EUR 153.8 million in the trade with Serbia in 2014 and EUR 129.2 million in 2015.
