EFT estimated yesterday (February 19, 2008) that granting of concession for construction of Steam Power Plant "Stanari" in Republic of Srpska represented important step towards realization of that investment wort 800m EUR.
Government of Republic of Srpska granted concession for construction and use of that steam power plant near Doboj (410 MW) to EFT group on February 14th. That plant will be producing 3,000 GWh of electric power per year, that is, about one fourth of total energy produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The communications manager of power company EFT, Nenad Savić, said that the construction of the first power plant in former Yugoslavia after 30 years should be finished in the first half of year 2012 .
- The plan is that the new plant, as the first power supply facility on that territory to be built in
accordance with the environment protection regulations of European Union, becomes a part of the system of BiH at the beginning of 2013 - Savić added.
He pointed out that it would be the most modern steam power plant in west Balkans, and it would significantly reduce power deficit of southeast Europe and stabilize electric power supply to the region starting from the year 2013.
About
3,000 people will be working on construction of steam power plant "Stanari", and
the project will be financed by EFT and commercial banks. It is also possible
that European Bank for Rehabilitation and Development (EBRD) will join the project
implementation.
EFT is the leading trader in electric power in southeast and central Europe. That company delivered 15,000 GWh of electric power in 2007 and realized total turnover worth 800m EUR.
