Two Italian companies to produce footwear in Sid – Delta Italia and Clarks employing 500 workers

Following serious negotiation between the chairmen of the local self-government of Sid and potential investors from Italy, it is almost certain that there will be cooperation, and the initial estimates say that the arrival of two big Italian companies will create around 500 jobs in the next three years.

According to the president of the municipality of Sid, Predrag Vukovic, it's certain that Delta Italia, which produces footwear soles, will start by opening 250 job positions, but there's a possibility of arrival of some of their partner companies, which would additionally benefit the municipality of Sid.

– Sid was recently visited by representatives of Delta Italia, who signed a preliminary agreement with the owner of two enormous halls in the South industrial zone in Sid. As they informed us, they will employ 250 workers this year and the plan is to raise a larger facility of their own in the industrial zone next to Corridor 10 after three years, after which and additional 250 workers should be employed – Vukovic said.

He added that the company Clarks was also interested in coming to Sid. The company produces 12 million pairs of children's footwear a year.

– They have a partnership with Delta Italia and, as we've been informed, Clarks is also interested in building facilities here. The precise location is not yet known, but we expect the arrival of their representatives soon, in order to define the details – Vukovic said and added that these were good news for the municipality of Sid, above all for young people, who will get an opportunity to find steady jobs in their home city.

According to him, during the recent visit by the president of the Government of Vojvodina, Igor Mirovic, the local self-government was promised help in equipping the industrial zone, which is planned to have as much as 120 hectares of usable land.
