Retired general and head of the NATO forces during the 1999 bombing of Serbia, Wesley Clark, could soon get a permit for building a thermal power plant in Kosovo, Novosti learns. This power plant would exploit coal, that is, produce synthetic petroleum and gases.

Clark's company Envidity had initiated the procedure for the implementation of the investment worth around EUR 500 million, and the request was approved at the session of the Government of Kosovo held on August 25, which was reported by the Kosovar media. The Government's decision now needs to be approved by the Parliament .

The allegations of Wesley Clark's links to Envidity were published by the Pristina electronic media.

Several months ago, representatives of the Committee for Economic Development of the Assembly of Kosovo said that the company had requested a permit for exploitation of coal and offered to the Government of Kosovo 30% of its profit. According to their plans, the production should reach two million liters of petroleum a day.

The media in Albanian have reported the statement by the company's representative that the the long-term plans, which should be realized within six to seven years, are for the company to establish a transport system for supplying airplanes with fuel. As well, the plan is to employ at least a thousand people in production and several hundred in the workflow.

The company requested a permit for exploitation of coal on the territory of Metohija, where coal hasn't been exploited so far, whereas the works would be funded by a loan from one of the American banks.

The Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals has reported that Clark's company submitted three requests in 2013 for exploration on a third of the territory, which were denied due to insufficient documentation.
