The president of the Slovenian Football Association, Aleksandar Ceferin, was appointed as the new president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) today.

Ceferin got 42 of 55 votes at the UEFA Congress. His rival was Michael van Praag of the Netherlands.

Ceferin succeeded the suspended Michel Platini as the UEFA president.
