Gold for Borislava Peric-Rankovic in Rio – Nada Matic and Mitar Palikuca win bronze medals

The Serbian table tennis player Borislava Peric-Rankovic has won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.


She triumphed following a great fight in five sets (11:4, 6:11, 7:11, 11:3, 11:6) against the Chinese player Miao Zhang.

This victory won Serbia its second medal at the Paralympics, following Mitar Palikuca's victory in the bronze medal match in Class 5 against the Norwegian player Tommy Urhaug (4:11, 14:12, 11:6, 11:9). Immediately afterwards, Nada Matic also won the bronze medal, after beating the British player Sue Gilroy in five sets.

Peric-Rankovic has won two silver medals so far, in 2008 Beijing Paralympics and in London in 2012.
