Preparations for production of "astra classic" in Kragujevac in progress - soon tender for procurement of production equipment

Preparations for production of "Opel's" model "astra classic" have started in "Zastava". Production of this model in the units of the Automobile Factory should commence in the second half of the year. It was agreed at the negotiations in Germany that the experts from "Opel" should join preparations for production of "astra classic" in Kragujevac's factory.

People in "Zastava" say that the tender for procurement of new production equipment will be announced these days. This is a big investment project, similar to the one that preceded production of model "zastava 10". People from "Zastava" still don't want to talk about its value.

- "Astra classic" will be assembled on the line for final assembling of "zastava 10", but the units of Karoserija (Car Body) is missing some new equipment and tools because the car body line for "punto" will be used only in the final phase of production of body of "astra classic". As far as body parts are concerned, they will be produced on other lines, which should be modernized, that is, adapted to "Opel" technology - says Zoran Stošić, CEO of "Zastava AGEM", a newly formed company for production and sale of "Opel" models.
