"Zastava Arms" signed contract worth 3m EUR with US company "Remington"

Factory "Zastava Arms" has signed the contract with the US company "Remington" on export of goods worth about 3m USD.

- The annex to the contract with "Remington" on the quantity and value of export in this year will be signed on February 18 in Kragujevac – said the acting director of "Zastava Arms", Rade Gromović, and added that they had agreed in principle on about 3m USD worth of export of 20,000 units of hunting and sports arms.

Reminding that company "Remington" sells products of "Zastave Arms" on the markets in the USA, Canada and Mexico, Gromović said that they had agreed to postpone export of carbines of stainless steel, which was supposed to be realized in 2008, for year 2009, for the sake of further thorough testing of that new product of the Kragujevac factory.

In the past two years, thanks to the contract on five-year cooperation that was signed with “Remington” in October 2005, "Zastava Arms" exported 42,000 hunting carbines worth 6.5m USD to USA, Canada and Mexico.

At the Fair of arms and military equipment, which was recently held in Las Vegas, the Kragujevac factory resumed cooperation with "Remington" and with the partners from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa after a five-year break.

On the basis of the contracts it signed, the Kragujevac-based arms factory plans to realize export worth 28.7m USD in 2008, including 5m USD from the export of pistol "CZ 99" to Iraq, on the basis of the state contract signed in December. Total of 18,000 pistols, 3,000 of which are manually engraved, will be exported to Iraq.
