"Serbian Railways" announced open competition for procurement of 10 maneuver locomotives - deadline for bids is March 21st

Serbian Railways has announced an open competition for procurement of 10 new maneuver locomotives. This procurement will be financed from the loan approved by international railway bank "Eurofima". "Eurofima" has approved the loan to Serbian Railways in amount of 60m CHF for procurement of locomotives and realization of another 4 projects.

- New maneuver locomotives will significantly reduce keeping of foreign cars in Serbia and they will accelerate freight transportation - said the people from the "Railways".

There are currently between 25 and 30 maneuver locomotives engaged in daily transportation, which is not enough for the needs of railway transportation.

The open competition for procurement of locomotives was announced on January 31 in Official Bulletin, and the deadline for submittal of bids is 50 days, that is, March 21, 2008. The plan is that the delivery of new locomotives starts in mid-2008, and the whole procedure will be monitored by the experts of "Eurofima", which finances the project.
