Nestle's half-year profit reduced – Company earns “only” EUR 3.9 billion in six months

The profit of the Swiss food company Nestle dropped in the first half of 2016 by 9.1%, but the weak performance, it has been announced, might be turned around in the second half of the year.

In the first six months of 2016, the company's net profit amounted to CHF 4.1 billion (EUR 3,9 billion), compared to CHF 4.5 billion in the first six months of 2015.

The results are significantly below analysts' projections of CHF 4.6 billion, made in the survey carried out by the Swiss research company AWP.

The reasons for the drop are, according to the leaving general manager of Nestle, Paul Bulcke, the record low prices of Nestle's products, which should be recovered in the months ahead, which will enable the company to meet the goals it has set for itself.
