Agreement on construction of access ways to Prokop railway station signed – Cost of works RSD 380 million, deadline May 2017

An agreement on the construction of traffic routes with the infrastructure and a bridge structure for the access to Prokop railway station was signed with a group of contractors, headed by Strabag, and the works should start within a month.

– After getting the necessary bank guarantees and insurance policies, the works can start. The construction of the access route will last until May next year, and the cost of the agreed works is RSD 380 million. The works will link the upper station square with the existing traffic network and the public transport – said City manager Goran Vesic.

Public transport lines are meant to go down the route, which will enable all parts of the city to be linked through public transport. It will also enable the access to the new main railway station in Belgrade and will contribute to the improvement of the function of reception and dispatch of passengers in line with norms and standards.

According to him, the project envisions a route with the infrastructure with two lanes in both directions of 770 meters of length and a median, with sidewalks on both sides, except at the intersection with Kneza Aleksandra Blvd.

– The construction of a 145-meter, five-span bridge structure with abutments on the route is also planned. Around 650 meters of water supplies lines, 1,500 meters of sewerage, 26 parking spaces and two public transport stops will be built. Dragana Mancea Street will be reconstructed in the length of 160 meters. A pedestrian and bicycle lane, 200 meters long and 3 meters wide, will be built in the direction from Kneza Aleksandra Blvd to Prokop railway station – Vesic specified.

In addition to the construction of the bridge structure with abutments, the city manager added, a significant part of the project is the construction of a passage beneath Kneza Aleksandra Blvd leading to Prokop, the City of Belgrade website reports
