Change of product's name - "Somboled" to become "Dukat"

French company "Lactalis", of which part is dairy "Somboled" from Sombor, announced yesterday (January 31, 2008) that the current trademark of dairy products of Sombor-based dairy "Somboled" would be replaced with trademark "Dukat".

The decision about change of name of the trademark has been made after the integration of dairy "Somboled" into business system of "Dukat" dairy industry, which is also a part of "Lactalis", said general manager of Somboled, Andrej Tičić, at the press conference.

As he specified, the process of so-called rebranding started on January 23 on the packaging of fresh milk and non-aromatized yoghurt, while all other products of Sombor's dairy will get new name in April.

- Croatian dairy industry "Dukat" became strategic majority partner of "Somboled" in 2002 and it invested about 26m EUR in the Sombor dairy within five years. In May 2007, "Dukat" became part of the system of French "Lactalis group", the world leading dairy industry, and took over the role of "Lactavis'" development center on the markets of former Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria and Albania, while trademark "dukat" became regional trademark of all dairy products - said Tičić.
