Marko Somborac exhibition opens in Kneza Mihaila Street

(Marko Somborac and Boris Tadic) An exhibition of the works of Marko Somborac, a famous comic book author, was opened on Sunday, July 31, at 6 pm, in Kneza Mihaila Street.

The exhibition features more than 160 of the author's best works, which have been published in the daily newspaper Blic in the past ten years, and is open until September 26.

Somborac thanked everybody who had visited “The Greatest Exhibition in Newer History” and claimed that the exhibition was larger by 4% than the one he had had in Kalemegdan four years before, “during the reign of the previous regime”.

– Still, the success is not solely mine. I thank the citizens for their everyday sacrifice of keeping up with the comic strip and Blic for the opportunity given and for bearing with me. I thank my family, parents and wife for their support, and, of course, the heroes in my comic strips for their selfless, devoted everyday work which inspires a caricaturist and makes him go forward, because the things they do are an endless source of inspiration for every author. Thank you, Aleksandar, Sinisa, Boris, Mirko, Voja, you are my eternal muses – Somborac said and pronounced the exhibition open.

Among the celebrities who have supported the caricaturist are Zoran Kesic, a talk-show host, but also one of the politicians caricatured by Somborac – Boris Tadic, leader of the Social Democratic Party and former President of Serbia. Tadic even brought a gift – a t-shirt with a caricature of Somborac, which he had drawn himself.
