Serbia visited by 13% more tourists in the first half of 2016

In the first half of 2016, 1.26 million tourists visited Serbia, which is 13% more than in the same period last year, as reported by the Tourist Organization of Serbia (TOS). Of these, 724,072 were local tourists, a number higher by 15%, and 539,848 were foreign tourists, a growth of 10%.


From January till June 2016, there were 3.48 million overnight stays, which is an increase of 15% relative to the same period in 2015. Of these, 2.29 million were by local tourists, and 1.19 million by foreign ones.

Local tourists mostly visited Zlatibor, followed by Kopaonik, Vrnjacka Banja and Tara. Foreigners mostly visited Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kopaonik, Zlatibor and Vrnjacka Banja.

The largest number of overnight stays were made by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Croatia and Russia.
