Panasonic to take over Gorenje
Gorenje has signed the agreement with Panasonic which allows the Japanese to make a detailed analysis of the Velenje-based company. Following that, Panasonic will reach the decision on the enlargement of the share in Gorenje.
According to the public announcement made by Gorenje at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, Panasonic will carry out the detailed survey of the state of the company by the end of September, after which it will have the option of increasing its share. No decision has been made to that end so far.
– The partners have agreed, within the conditions for carrying out the analysis, about the strategic orientation regarding the future role of Gorenje within the Panasonic Group if Panasonic buys the control share in Gorenje – they stated.
Panasonic acquired a 10.74% share in Gorenje in 2013, and in 2015 it bought an additional 1.2%.
Gorenje operated with a loss larger than EUR 4 million last year. The loss will be covered by transferring the net profit of the previous years in the amount of EUR 2.8 million and a part of capital reserves in the amount of EUR 1.19 million. The price of Gorenje shares at the stock exchange dropped 0.5% to EUR 6.5 on Monday.
