Kromberg & Schubert choosing Krusevac due to workforce – Yura already announcing expansion in Leskovac
The Germans have left for Krusevac, even though Leskovac is offering better communal conditions, because, as Jugmedia reports, “the discovery that Yura will expand in the next 4 to 5 years has dissuaded the Germans from making an investment, primarily due to competitiveness over the workforce, because the two companies have identical production programs”.
Their practice is never to build a factory closer than 80 kilometers from their competition.
The president of the Board of the company Kromberg & Schubert and his partners stayed in Leskovac for two days. He visited several locations. It turned out, however, that Leskovac didn't have enough space for such a large company, which had asked for 6.5 hectares, so they were offered the location at the Green Zone, fully equipped with utility infrastructure.
This meant changing the General Regulation Plan within no less than six months, and as for the land, it had been fully equipped with the access route, water supply, electricity and sewage.
The Germans, as Jugmedia's source said, were thrilled by the reception and the city itself, so much so that the president of the Board stated that he would love to live in the city on the Veternica. Nevertheless, several weeks later, they made the decision to build their factory in Krusevac instead, and the final decision was made at the Government of Serbia.
