Chinese meatpacking company buys British video game developer

Splash Damage's portfolio includes two Enemy Territory games (Wolfenstein and Quake), the unsuccessful Brink and the free to play shooter Dirty Bomb. They were also responsible for the multiplayer component of Doom 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein and they have worked on the new Gears of War game for Microsoft.

However, Splash Damage is not the first gaming studio that the Chinese have taken over. Last summer they bought 58% of shares of Digital Extremes, the studio behind The Darkness 2 and Warframe, which made a turnover of 70% for them in 2015.

As they claim in Leyou, it's becoming less and less profitable to be in the meatpacking business, whereas video games are constantly on the rise. Their plan is to cover a large number of genres and game monetization systems by acquisitions.
