Talks between representatives of the state and producers about the price of wheat to begin soon

– The Minister of Trade and I are prepared to talk to them on Thursday. Our farmers know that the market influences the prices and that we don't have much influence over it, but we are prepared to hear what their arguments are in favor of the possibility of increasing the prices – Boskovic said.

The prices vary each year and it should be kept in mind that most local farmers aren't currently selling wheat, she said and added that the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture wanted to help the farmers get the best, the biggest and the most quality crops before wheat was harvested and sold.

– We always emphasize that those who want to go into agriculture need to listen to what the experts and the science say. The goal is that farmers get bigger and better crops, which guarantee profit and cost-effectiveness of the production, and the question of the quality of crops is also very important – Boskovic said.

The Minister reminded that a rulebook was being prepared which would prescribe paying for wheat, flour and other related products based on quality.

It is estimated that around a million and a half tons of wheat might be exported to the foreign markets.
