Voluntary leaving program succeeds – No layoffs in Fiat
The head of the Independent Union in Kragujevac, Zoran Marinkovic, said on Monday, July 11, that the director of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Serbia, Silvia Vernetti, had met the representatives of the Union, and that the topic of the conversation had been the then current situation at the factory. It is expected that the number of workers which have applied for the social program will be announced.
To remind, in mid-June, FCA Serbia announced that it was canceling a work shift in Kragujevac, which caused concern that up to 900 workers in the car factory and 600 employees at the subcontractors might lose their jobs. The application of workers for the voluntary leaving and the social program began on June 27 and lasted until July 8.
Based on the agreement between the factory's Union, the management and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, the social program entails the severance package as prescribed by law and compensation in case of unemployment, whereas the workers who have chosen to leave the company voluntarily may also count on the fixed amount of EUR 3,000, with compensations for unused annual leave.
For example, the workers who have spent three years in the factory, which is the case for most of them, may count on severance packages in the amount of EUR 4,800.
