Government of Serbia announces full cooperation with the EU regarding the price of steel

The Government of Serbia “is familiar with the procedure initiated based on the complaint over the alleged dumping in the export of steel to the EU, filed by Eurofer, the association of steel manufacturers from the EU, and will fully cooperate with the European Commission in solving this issue”, the announcement says.

- We expect to receive the complete documentation from the Commission, with precise information based on which we will prepare our response, with the conviction that manufacturers from Serbia haven’t broken the anti-dumping rules – the Government stated.

In the announcement, the Government of Serbia expressed its conviction “that the European Commission too will accept these arguments”.

A few days after the Chinese Hesteel took over Zelezara Smederevo, the EU authorities in Brussels initiated an investigation against Serbia over the dumping prices of steel. The anti-dumping procedure has been initiated for steel which was coming to the EU from Brazil, Iran, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.

The European steel manufacturers cite the Protocol 5 in their complaint.

The announcement by the EC states that the investigation has been initiated based on the evidence submitted by the European steel manufacturers, and the investigation pertains to the period from July 1 to June 30, 2016, during which Zelezara was run by HPK Engineering, headed by Peter Kamaras.
