Prior to the beginning of August, Public Company Airport "Beograd" and American company "Dyncorp" will form joint venture for construction of cargo terminal, Goran Kaličanin announced, deputy of general director of this company.
Kaličanin said that, after the founding of joint venture, 65% of which would be owned by "Dyncorp" and about 35% by public company from Serbia, the construction of 60.6 million USD worth of cargo terminal would start at Belgrade’s airport. Serbian building companies will be engaged in construction of cargo center and the agreement on that issue has been reached with American partner and it was explained to them that Serbia has all required materials that are necessary for construction.
Kaličanin pointed out that the turnover of goods at Belgrade’s airport would be increased from 12,000 tons, which is the amount transported last year, to 90,000 tons in the first year following construction of cargo terminal and logistics center.
Besides the project for construction of cargo center, the management of the Airport plans to start construction of new runway within next three to four years, if the scope of transportation rise from present 150 to 300 takeoffs and landings on daily basis. Kaličanin announced that the management started initiative for prolongation of the railway to the airport, but that requires €58 – €70 milllion and agreement by the Ministry of Capital Investments of Serbia and "Railways of Serbia".
Kaličanin had announced that, after construction of cargo terminal, old building that is now used as cargo terminal will be adapted into terminal of "general aviation", i.e. terminal that would serve small airplanes used by businessmen.
