Kamenica 2 still not in use

The structure currently has neither the building permit nor the exploitation permit, and it received the approval of the Serbian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency only three weeks ago.
This was pointed out on Thursday, June 30, by the new Provincial Secretary for Health Care Dr Zoran Gojkovic, who together with Dr Aleksandar Redzek, director of the Institute of Cardivascular Diseases of Vojvodina, Dr Milos Lucic, director of the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina and Dr Branislav Perin, director of Institute for Pulmonary Diseases of Vojvodina, visited Kamenica 2 in Sremska Kamenica near Novi Sad.
Gojkovic said that, during the handover of duties between the former and the current secretary, numerous inconsistencies were found in the extensive documentation related to the realization of the project and the construction of Kamenica 2. By further reviewing the documentation, it was determined that there were financial problems and that the public procurement procedure for a part of the equipment hadn’t even started.
According to him, it is inconceivable that Kamenica 2 has not been operational since February 11, 2008, when the construction started, with nearly RSD 3.5 billion invested.
A day earlier, the new Provincial Government reached the decision on setting aside RSD 6.4 million from the current budget reserves to the end of emergency reparation of the cardio catheterization hall at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Sremska Kamenica.
