The insurance market records a growth of 13% - Dunav Osiguranje's share the biggest based on the height of the insurance premium

The insurance market has recorded a growth of the total premium of over 13%, which is the best result since 2007, whereas in 2015, the total premium made up about 2% of Serbia's GDP, which was nearly identical to 2005. These are the results of the research of the financial sector published in the latest issue of Finansije TOP.
When it comes to activities of insurance companies in 2015, Dunav Osiguranje had the biggest market share based on the height of the premium, followed by Generali Osiguranje, DDOR, Wiener stadtische and Uniqa Nezivotno Osiguranje.
When looking at two very important indicators of the market's development level – the share of the total premium in Serbia's GDP and the share of the life insurance premium in the total premium, it becomes clear that the local market is still not at an enviable level. In 2015, the share of the total premium in Serbia's GDP was around 2%, almost the same as in 2005, whereas the share of life insurance in the total premium was 24%, compared to 23.1% in 2014, with the caveat that the European average was 59.1% that year, the research shows.
No new companies arrived on the market last year, nor were there official displays of interest by any of the large international companies.
