The American software company Microsoft announced that it was buying the business-related social network LinkedIn Corporation for USD 26.2 billion in cash, report Reuters.

This latest piece of news, the British newspaper Telegraph reports, has caused the LinkedIn shares to jump by 50%, and the newspaper estimates that this is one of the biggest contracts in Microsoft's history.

Microsoft says that the CEO of LinkedIn Jeff Weiner will remain at the helm of the company.
