Air Serbia's airplane for New York flights to be called Nikola Tesla

The airplane Airbus A330, which will start flying the Belgrade – New York route under the Air Serbia brand on June 23, will be named after the greatest Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla, reports Blic.

This is the first wide-body aircraft for the regular intercontinental traffic between the Balkans and the USA, between Belgrade and New York, after 24 years, and Tesla's name has not been randomly chosen – the scientist spent most his life in New York. Following the three Serbian sports legends, Novak Djokovic, Vlade Divac and Dejan Stankovic, and the actor Miki Manojlovic, this will be the fifth Air Serbia airplane to carry the name of a prominent Serb.

Airbus A330 is the largest aircraft in Air Serbia's fleet and it has been rented from the Indian Jet Airways, a partner of Etihad's. It has 254 seats, 236 in the economy class and 18 in the business class, costs half a million dollars a month and can take 10 tons of goods per flight.
