Russia is planning to build a theme park similar to Disneyland at the border between Kaluga Oblast and Moscow Oblast (area), and one of the leading attractions will be the biggest aqua park in the world, stated the governor of Kaluga Oblast Anatoly Artamonov at his meeting with the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
As he said, 220 hectares of land have already been set aside and the investors have been found, reports Russia Today.
Artamonov said that the project Magic World Russia was sustainable due to a strong influx of tourists to the region, since their number had more than doubled in the past three years to 2.5 million.
The theme park will consist of several zones and hotels and will contain the world's biggest aqua park. Certain zones will be dedicated to places of national interest. For example, one zone will contain an exhibit dedicated to Saint Petersburg, added Artamonov.
The investors won't require the state's involvement in the project, since they already have USD 4 billion needed for the construction, but the support of president Putin, as Artamonov said, will boost their confidence.
Another theme park similar to Disneyland, called the Island of Dreams, RT informs, is being built in Southern Moscow.
