The South awakens? - Industrial production in Nis increases by one fifth

The totality of the industrial production in Nis in the first three-month period of this year, according to the data from the Administration of Economy, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection of the City of Nis, increased by 22.6% relative to the same period in 2015.
The production of intermediate goods increased by 14.1%, whereas the production of non-durable goods for mass consumption increased by 53.5%.
Power production decreased by 8.1%, the production of capital goods by 16.1%, and the production of durable goods for mass consumption decreased by 5.9%.
Of the processing industry sectors, the biggest increase of 163.8% was recorded in the clothing goods manufacturing.
The production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 79.6%, and the production of electrical equipment by 35.3%.
Food manufacturers recorded an increase in production by 3.9%.
According to official statistics, in the first three-month period of this year, in the Nis area, the production of rubber and plastic goods decreased by 5.4%, the production of computers, electronic and optical goods by 10.7%, and the production of metal goods by 45.4%.
The biggest decrease was recorded in the production of machinery and equipment – 67.1%.
The industrial production in the Nis area is still dominated by the processing industry, and its participation in the total industrial production in the past decade has constantly exceeded 96%.
The participation of the processing manufacture in the total production at the end of 2015 was 99.6%.
