Building of annex of Agricultural-Veterinary School in Svilajnac near the end – Works worth 200 mil RSD

(Illustration) The only thing left is to equip the amphitheater and finalize the technical acceptance for the building of the annex to be finished in the Agricultular-Veterinary School in Svilajnac, which has a students' home with 420 beds. The annex will provide an additional 180 spaces. The first residents will move in at the beginning of the next school year, while the three- and four-bed rooms with shared bathrooms in the oldest part of the building will be “canceled”, which will bring the capacity of the students' home down to 450 places, but will also significantly increase the comfort of living in it.

The works in the school which is currently being attended by 700 students was financed by the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Svilajnac and the school itself. The total cost of the works was around 200 mil RSD.

- We are educating agricultural, veterinary and food technicians and also horticulture technicians, butchers and agricultural machinery workers. All the educational profiles are filled with students from all over Serbia, which have at their disposal the school property, studies and a veterinary ambulance – says Dejan Milanovic, assistant director in charge of teaching.

Nenad Milojevic, assistant director who takes care of the practical education, says that the school property spreads over 130 hectares, and there's also a greenhouse from Holland, three modern plastic greenhouses, 60 dairy cows and calves, 200 pigs, a farm of around fifty sheep and 300 egg laying chickens, so that the students' food needs are fully satisfied by what they produce themselves.

- There are a hundred hectares for tillage, eight hectares of orchards, and three each for vegetable farming and viticulture. We also have at our disposal 22 hectares of land certified for organic production of meadow hay – Milojevic concluded.
