Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić said yesterday (December 20, 2007) that the Government of Republic of Germany had decided to invest Serbia’s debt in amount of 18.5m EUR in environment protection projects in Serbia.
Talking to the press in the premises of the Government of Serbia after the meeting with the Ambassador of Germany to Belgrade, Wolfram Mas, Đelić announced that Serbia would suggest projects for environment protection and improvement of energy efficiency.
According to Đelić, important projects are introduction of gas to Pančevo, use of wind energy and cleaning of the Bačka canal. Kraljevo, Pirot, Sombor, Kragujevac, Niš and Zrenjanin will be the first cities where projects for improvement of energy efficiency will be realized and, in that way, few million euros will be saved every year.
The contract will be signed by the end of June 2008, so that realization of projects could start next year, and projects will also be financed from the Republic budget, and Serbia, according to Đelić’s words, will get both aid and partner.
