Second half of July to see Slavija Square reconstruction - Works completion in December 2016

Renovation of the Slavija Square and Bulevar oslobodjenja, totaling EUR 9.5 m, is expected to start in the second half of July and it should end in 155 days . Before that, it is necessary to select contractors and relocate the monument and the remains of Dimitrije Tucovic from the square. It is still unknown who will get the job of reconstruction but there will be no compromise on deadlines city manager Goran Vesic said for RTS.
- The procedure is such that the Commission is considering offers which arrived for the tender and it should be completed by the end of the week when the report will be sent to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development which finance the reconstruction - Vesic said.According to him , Slavija must be completed as soon as possible because it is the urban hub and the city is expected to be in December works will be completed.
Meanwhile, Monday will see the start of relocation of mortal remains and the monument to Dimitrije Tucovic.
The city is working on implementation of the plan so that city center is transformed into a pedestrian zone.
