Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met Tuesday with James Roof and Kim Daehang, officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at the Serbian government. Daehang, IMF permanent representative in Belgrade, stated ahead of the meeting that they would discuss the new government’s economic programme, saying however that the IMF Mission would pay an official visit to Serbia only once the government had been set up.
Daehang explained that the Mission planned in principle to visit Serbia in mid-June. The Mission’s previous visit to Serbia took place on February 18-26, but the fourth arrangement revision was not concluded then, either, because of the elections.
Serbia concluded a precautionary stand-by arrangement, worth about EUR 1.2 billion, with the IMF in February 2015.
Vucic has repeatedly reiterated that the government has no intention of withdrawing that money.
