German car manufacturer Daimler will invest EUR 500 m in the construction of a factory for production of engines in Poland within efforts to overtake rival BMW, Bloomberg agency reports.

A production department in Javor, in the southwestern of Poland , will be the second Daimler’s engine plant outside Germany.

New plant, with a several hundred employees in the first stage, will produce four-cylinder engines for the petrol and diesel versions, starting from 2019, Stuttgart-based company stated.

Car manufacturers are trying to increase profitability through cost reduction in production and development of different strategies, including the use of the same parts in different lines of the model, according to the New York agency.
