Modernization of high furnace no. 2 in company "U.S. Steel" completed - investment worth 40m EUR

After 83 days, company "U.S. Steel" has successfully finished modernization of high furnace no. 2. General Manager of the company, Richard E. Veitch, said that the aim of modernization, in which 40m USD were invested, was to prolong life of that high furnace for another 15 years.

High furnace no. 2 was put into operation in 1987 and it has been working non-stop for 20 years. At the end of June 2005, high furnace no.1, which had been out of work for 18 years, was put into operation. The company invested 33.1m USD in that project.

By modernizing capacities, company "U.S Steel Srbija" is trying to reach projected capacity of production of raw steel in amount of 2.2m tons per year.
