Styria in Vojvodina realizes projects related to geothermal waters, hazardous waste, water supply...

On the basis of the Agreement on cooperation between Vojvodina and Styria, which was signed in 2004, the development of the projects in field of economy, university and research centers is planned, as well as development and introduction of new technologies, ecology and environment protection, improvement of agriculture and modernization of rural areas and enhancement of social and health care. In field of econology and environment protection, the Government of Styria showed interest in taking part in solving of problem related to water supply, management of medical and communal waste, and it is willing to participate in design of feasibility study for use of geo-thermal water in sustainable development of Vojvodina.
At the end of June 2003, the representatives of Provincial Secretariat for Environment Protection and Office of Government of Styria signed the document related to drinking water supply of west part of Vojvodina, which is endangered with presence of arsenic. At the same time, the document was signed on design of feasibility study in field of medical waste management in Vojvodina, together with pilot-project for south of Bačka.
In January 2004, the document was signed on introduction of integral system for communal waste management in Vojvodina. The project is finances by the Government of Province of Styria, Economic Service of Austria – AWS and AEVG. Completion of the project is expected in March 2005.
The representatives of provincial Secretariat for Environment Protection and Sustainable Development, for Energetics and Mineral Raw Materials and for Privatization and Entrepreneurship signed the document with the Office of the Government of Styria on design of feasibility study on use of geo-thermal waters in sustainable development of Vojvodina.
