During the first quarter of 2016, Vip mobile generated a revenue of RSD 6.2 billion, up 21.5% from the previous year, while its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew 22%, to RSD 1 billion. At the end of March, Vip had over two million subscribers and a market share of 22.6%.
- Growth of Vip's operations is a result of an enlarged number of postpaid subscribers who increasingly use various services, such as data transfer in 4G and 3G networks, and opt for smartphones - said Andreas Graf, the director/CFO of Vip mobile and Si.mobil, adding that Vip was still the largest greenfield investor in the country with over EUR 920 million invested to date.
He announced that the company would continue to invest in comprehensive expansion of 4G network in 2016 to offer fast and reliable mobile broadband Internet to 75% of the population in more than 70 small and big cities across Serbia.
Vip is a member of the Telekom Austria Group, a leading telecom firm in central and eastern Europe, which registered a revenue of EUR 1 billion in the first quarter of 2016.
